Femtocells Get a Standard
The final work on the next-generation mobile broadband standard, Long Term Evolution (LTE), was finalized last month. It will be introduced in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 8. LTE work is largely covered by the Radio Access Network (RAN) group of 3GPP.
