SSB CB Radio for Comunication

Category: Satellite Phones

Hello,

Joseph here from SSB CB Radio to talk about the advantages  of a Single Side Band (SSB) CB Radio. You have probably  knowledge of, and perhaps even used  a inexpencive  AM CB Radio. In this article, I want to  take a look at  the features of  an AM CB Radio and a SSB CB Radio.

When I was young. I became  interested in the CB Radio hobby. I went to my local electronics store and bought  a uniden CB for about $40. It worked well for Car to Car communications on class outings. Back at home my Dad decided to join me in my new hobby. It seems he was a ham operator some years  back and still owned  a CB radio with SSB and a CB linear amplifier. We never did use  the CB linear because we were worried  about bleeding  over on the neighbors TV (We lived in the burbs). What we did do though was set up  a Beam Antenna on a rotater for  a cb base station. When the Skip came in, we could talk to  truckers in Texas from the San Francisco  Bay Area in California on AM. If we switched to SSB and and pointed  the beam in the correct  direction we could talk to other base stations all the way to North Carolina. Although  the Fedral Communications Commision  has outlawed DX Over 150 miles, they don’t really pay much attention to it. Just don’t bleed on your neighbors TV, and stay off the Ham Frequencies and you won’t have any trouble.

SSB CB Radios can be more then just a hobby. They can be a vital communication link in an emergency. Even though every one has  cell phones now, cell phones have a limited range and depend on cell towers which are powered by the local utility  company. If an emergency  causes a power outage, the cell towers go dead, and cell phones don’t work. This is when  a 40 channel am SSB mobile CB radio will facilitate comunication for your family. If each of your vehicles  has one your family can stay in communication  even if the cell phones go down. CB SSB radios have a much better range then standard AM CB Radios even with out making any CB Radio mods  or using CB radio linears. You will find that the best CB radios for sale are not cheap, but you get what you pay for when it comes to SSB CB Radios and antennas. When looking at CB Radio sales, it’s a good idea to read the CB Radio reviews before you buy. If you do this you will be sure to find the best SSB CB Radio for your price range. You will find  that an AM CB Radio has a average range of 5 miles or less wile a SSB CB Radio usually has a minimum of 50 miles. A handy feature for getting the maximum range is a SWR meter CB. An SWR meter aids in  tuning your CB antenna. Don’t fret  if the SSB CB Radio your looking at doesn’t include a SWR Meter because you can get a SWR Meter for about $15.

I hope you have found this info on SSB CB Radios helpful and don’t forget to subscribe to SSB CB Radio because I will be posting more articles soon.
